 Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race

Tamar Yacht Club are proud to offer support for the annual Launceston to Hobart (L2H) Yacht Race, facilitated by Derwent Sailing Squadron. The L2H race departs Beauty Point on the 27th of December each year, with entrants competing in a 285 nautical mile course, towards the finish line off Castray Esplanade, Hobart.  Spring Regatta

The TYC Buckby Motors Spring Regatta is held in September of each year. All members of clubs affiliated with Australian Sailing are invited to our Beauty Point location to partake in this fantastic event. Please contact the office for more information. 

Van Diemens Land Circumnavigation

Every two years, the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania conducts the Van Diemen’s Land Circumnavication Cruise. This is a world-class event that was established in 1990. The 800 nautical mile event is undertaken by a 45-boat fleet including ocean-going yachts, motor yachts, motor cruisers, charter vessels, professional fishing vessels and tall ships. 

The next cruise will be held on 23 February 2024.

Expressions of interest for participation can be submitted to RYCT via their website. 

Ponrabbel Shield and Geoff Hiscock Memorial Race

The annual Ponrabbel Shield race is held in February, and starts from Beauty Point. This race sees competitors race to the head of the Mersey River. The following day, there will be the Geoff Hiscock Memorial Race which will see competitors sail back to Beauty Point in a pursuit race format.

Competitors are urged to read the safety guidelines for Category 4, while this is a self-declaration, entry forms must include the safety form for competitors to be eligible.
